This Privacy Policy explains how YouFree ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information about you when you use our mobile apps, websites, APIs, and related services (the "Service"). It also describes your rights and how to exercise them.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account: name, username, email address, phone number, password (hashed), date of birth, gender, language and country.
- Profile: display name, bio, profile picture, cover image, links, interests, location and accessibility preferences.
- Content: posts, reels, stories, highlights, sounds, comments, polls, messages, voice notes, live streams, audio room sessions, gifts, tips and any media or text you upload.
- Identity Verification: if you apply for verification or creator payouts, government-issued ID and selfie images submitted via our identity verification flow. These are used solely to confirm your identity and are stored securely with restricted access.
- Payments: billing details handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Support: messages you send to us, support tickets, attachments, and feedback.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device: device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, network type, push tokens (FCM/APNs), and unique device identifiers.
- Usage: features you use, content you view, search history, login alerts, sessions, error logs and performance metrics.
- Approximate Location: derived from IP address. Precise location is only collected if you explicitly grant permission (e.g. for location-tagged posts or live streams).

1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Social login providers (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.) if you sign in using them — limited to what those providers share with us based on your consent.
- Payment and identity verification partners.
- Advertisers, ad networks and analytics providers (limited to non-identifying signals).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and secure your account and authenticate you across devices.
- Provide the core social features: posts, stories, reels, messaging, live streams, audio rooms, groups, shops, etc.
- Personalize your feed, recommendations, hashtags, and discovery.
- Process payments, subscriptions, coin purchases, gifts, tips and creator payouts.
- Show relevant ads and measure their performance using non-identifying signals.
- Send notifications, important account alerts, security alerts, and marketing messages (you can opt out of marketing).
- Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security incidents and policy violations.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
- Conduct research, analytics, and improve the Service.
3. Legal Bases (GDPR / Similar Laws)
- Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the Service safe, prevent fraud, and improve features.
- Consent: for marketing notifications, precise location, and certain optional features. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to comply with laws and respond to lawful requests.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as follows:
- Other Users: your public profile, posts, reels, stories, comments, and other content you choose to share. Some content (e.g. private messages, vanishing messages, restricted-audience stories) is only shared with the recipients you select.
- Service Providers: hosting, storage, push notifications, payments, analytics, anti-fraud, identity verification, customer support, email/SMS delivery, and live streaming infrastructure. These providers are bound by confidentiality and may only use data to provide services to us.
- Advertising Partners: only non-identifying signals such as interests, language, age range and approximate location.
- Legal & Safety: where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, safety or security of YouFree, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with appropriate safeguards.
5. Your Privacy Controls
- Account & Profile: edit, hide or delete your profile fields and content at any time.
- Visibility: set your account public or private; restrict story audiences; hide stories from specific users; close-friends list; block or restrict users.
- Messaging: control who can message you, enable vanishing messages, block contacts.
- Notifications: manage push, email, and in-app notifications by category.
- Ads: hide individual ads and manage interest categories.
- Location: control precise location permission via your device settings.
- Two-Factor Authentication, Recovery Codes & Trusted Contacts: add extra layers of account security.
- Login Alerts: see active sessions and sign out remotely.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your account and personal data ("right to be forgotten"). You can request account deletion from Settings.
- Export your data in a portable format. We support a self-service data export request from inside the app.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@yfree.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service or as required by law. After account deletion, most personal data is removed within 30 days, with limited backups purged within 90 days. Some information may be retained longer for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, or financial-record purposes.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS/TLS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, hashed passwords, two-factor authentication, role-based access controls, audit logs, intrusion detection, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
9. Children's Privacy
YouFree is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact privacy@yfree.app.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, by in-app notice or email.
